Interpreter Academy

The Ultimate Resource for Interpreting Professionals

Interpreters to Connect the World

Welcome to the Interpreter Academy, where our goal is to provide a comprehensive resource for certified interpreters. Our focus is to help you become the best interpreter you can be, and to help you stay current and professional in your practice.

As a credentialed interpreter, you play a critical role in the day-to-day language needs of limited English proficient (LEP) patients as they encounter medical and social services providers. Compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act is crucial for LEPs to have access to interpreting services and for healthcare institutions to provide certified and qualified interpreters.

Interpreter credentials not only validate your profession and practice, but it also benefits institutions by ensuring compliance with the Joint Commission, federal law, high patient satisfaction ratings, and reducing the liability of malpractice.

At UniversalLanguage, we believe that credentialing serves to ensure that interpreters are recognized as the professionals they are, and we’re committed to helping you continue to develop your skills and stay current in your practice.

Why Use UniversalLanguage Service?

UniversalLanguage Service is a third-party language testing provider. Testing is offered to interpreters seeking credentialing in the profession, bilingual individuals wanting to validate their dual language skills, and for the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS LTC) for their recognized medical interpreter program. The examination is designed to evaluate the language proficiency of interpreters in both English and a second language, as well as their interpreting and translation skills, and bilingual skills of the candidate’s language pair. The evaluation process is based on minimum competency standards established by experienced practicing interpreters, bilingual professionals, and language specialists in their respective fields of practice.
